Find a tune

Pick by title, genre, feel, or composer.

Pick tunes from Find a tune.

Open and close

Press Find a tune at the top of the screen. While you are choosing, this button shows the tune name.

There are three ways to close it. Press Close, press the dark area outside the screen, or press Esc. When you pick a tune, it closes on its own.

Four filters

Four filters sit at the top. You can combine them.

  • Title … type part of the tune name (upper and lower case are treated the same)
  • Genre (all) … Practice forms / Blues / Rhythm Changes / Standards (songs) / Swing / big band / Bebop / Hard bop / funky / Modal / post-bop / Latin / Groove / Even / Waltz / odd meter / Trad / PD / Japanese tunes / Feelism originals
  • Feel (all) … filter by groove (Swing, Bossa, Ballad, and the others). What the grooves mean is in Feel and meter
  • Composer … type part of the composer’s name

Under that, a line such as “12 / 96 tunes” shows how many matched, and how many there are in all. If nothing matches, it says “No matching tunes.”

The filters are still there the next time you open Find a tune.

How to read the list

Each row has the tune name on top, and genre · Feel · composer underneath. The tune that is open now changes color.

A tune with 🔒 beside the name can be read on the chart, and it cannot be played. Those are paid tunes and imported tunes. Details are in Paid tunes and the lock.

Tunes that come with Feelism are listed first. Imported tunes follow, grouped together. The heading is Local for charts you brought in yourself, and the publisher’s name for charts from Forum. Delete pack on the right of a group, and Delete on each row, remove them (Your own charts).

The next tune

While stopped, [ and ] on either side of Find a tune move to the previous and next tune. [ ] on the keyboard do the same. They do nothing while playing.

After you pick one

When you open a tune, tempo, meter, Feel, and the Fills settings load to match that tune. To keep a setting you changed for the next time, see “Remembering your choices” in Feel and meter.

When you open the app, the tune you had open before comes up. If it was a paid tune, it comes up still locked. Feelism does not switch you to a free tune on its own.
