Data folder

Where Feelism keeps its folder on this PC, and what is inside.

The files Feelism keeps on this computer live in one folder. The place is %AppData%\Feelism (in practice, C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Roaming\Feelism).

Press Settings → Window → Data folder and it opens in File Explorer.

What is inside

  • engine-prefs.json … overall settings such as levels, Self-mix, the transposing instrument, and the click. The last tune you opened, and the settings remembered per tune (transpose, tempo, meter, Feel, fills, and the rest), are here too
  • chord-overrides.json … chords you rewrote (per tune, per bar, per beat)
  • feel-overrides.json … a groove you changed from a bar
  • ugc\ … chart files you imported. Ones you brought in yourself are in ugc\local\. Ones from Forum are in ugc\(publisher name)\
  • recordings\ … recorded WAV files. If you changed the save location, they go there instead
  • audio-device.xml … the audio interface and MIDI device you picked
  • install.json and install-id.txt … the number that stands for this installation

About the installation number

What is in install.json is a number used to count how many times each tune was played, from which installation. It does not include your name, email address, license key, or the sound you played. It is used for a record of how much the tunes are used.

Is it safe to delete?

Delete the whole folder and settings, rewritten chords, imported tunes, and recordings are gone. Feelism goes back to the first state. The app itself still runs.

  • Reset settings only … delete engine-prefs.json
  • Undo chord rewrites only … Clear edits in the app is safer (Rewrite chords)
  • Tidy imported tunes … Delete / Delete pack in Find a tune is safer (Your own charts)

A backup

Before you move to another computer or reinstall, copy this whole folder. You can take settings, imported tunes, and rewritten chords with you.

After you cancel

This folder stays. Imported chart files are not deleted. Only playback locks (Paid tunes and the lock).

Where the license key is

The key is not in this folder. It stays with the other settings the app keeps. You can see it and replace it in the field under Settings → Billing (License key).
