Play with the built-in keyboard

Try the accompaniment from the keyboard inside the app.

This page uses the keyboard built into Feelism to check that sound works.

Open it

  1. Press Settings at the top right of Feelism
  2. Under Window, press On-screen keyboard
  3. A separate screen opens (Feelism Keyboard)

That screen is separate from the chart, so you can read the chart while you play. Turn on On top at the top right and it stays in front of other screens. To close it, press Close.

Play

  • Click the keys with the mouse
  • Play from the computer keyboard. White keys are Z X C V B N M ,. Black keys are S D G H J
  • [ and ] move the octave up and down (from −2 to +2). The middle of the keyboard screen shows where you are, such as C4
  • The Vel knob is how hard the note is (1–127. It starts at 80)
  • Pick Voice on the keyboard screen (Tenor / Alto / Trumpet / Trombone / Piano / Guitar. It starts at Piano). This is separate from the Session Voice on the chart (theme and solo line)

Sound comes out of the computer’s speakers or headphones. If an audio interface is connected, it comes out of that output.

Play with the band

  1. On the chart screen, open Find a tune and pick a practice tune (such as Feelism Blues)
  2. Press Play
  3. Play the keyboard. Piano, bass, and drums respond

If the keyboard is too loud or too quiet, open Mix on the chart screen and move Keys. At 0, only the keyboard goes silent. The band still plays.

When it piles up on Feelism’s piano

If Feelism’s piano and your keyboard are hard to tell apart, do one of these:

  • Set Piano in Mix to 0 (only the backing piano goes silent)
  • Clear the Piano check in Settings → Band (Feelism’s piano stops. Bass and drums remain)

To play a real session with your instrument, go to Connect your PC and audio interface. If you have a MIDI keyboard (it sends which keys you pressed), MIDI keyboard is the simple path.
